Flora Defense contains pure yeast cultures of Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii and lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus rhamnosus and prebiotic (oligofructose).
Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii has a natural resistance to antibiotics, with the exception of some quinolones and antifungals. These yeasts do not digest in the digestive tract. Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii produces toxin inactivating protease produced by Clostridium dificile.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus – by producing lactic acid, lowers the pH in the intestines, thus inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. The ability of Lactobacillus rhamnosus to inhibit colonization of the gastrointestinal membrane by Clostridium perfringens in dogs reaches 80%. Lactobacillus rhamnosus metabolites stimulate local as well as general body immunity. After enriching the diet with the above strain of microorganisms, a higher sensitivity of cell receptors to insulin and more effective weight loss was found, which indicates the possibility of using Lactobacillus rhamnosus in the slimming process. In addition, individuals receiving Lactobacillus rhamnosus diet showed a higher concentration of GABA – a neurotransmitter that alleviates mood disorders and reduces levels of anxiety.
